I was going to straighten this, but it reminded me of the story of when the founders of the De Stijl movement (which included Mondrian) 'had words' with the painter/designer/architect Gerrit Rietveld when he began to introduce diagonals into his work. The De Stijl purists didn't like this, it went against their horizontal/vertical/90 degree aesthetic. They kicked him out. Allegedly.
